Michael Jackson will get Grammy Awards Lifetime Achievement

Along with the 100 plus awards given out for musical and creative achievement, the Recording Academy also rewards technical excellence and the achievements of a lifetime in musical entertainment.

The Lifetime Achievement, Technical Achievement, and Trustees Awards are handed out at a special invitation only ceremony the night before the big Grammy Awards Gala. The Grammy Awards is a week long celebrations of musical achievements and excellence that include the MusiCares celebration, the special Grammy Awards ceremonies, and culminates with the big Grammy Award Gala on Sunday night that is broadcast on television.

The 2010 Lifetime Achievement, Technical Achievement, and Trustee Award winners are:

Grammy Award winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Leonard CohenLeonard

94 year old Blues Hall of Fame member and Delta Blues man David “Honeyboy” Edwards (still touring)

13 time Grammy Award winner, Songwriters Hall of Fame member, and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Michael Jackson

Three time Grammy Award winning country music legend Loretta LynnLoretta

10 time Grammy Award winner and Grand Prix du Disque winning classical composer, conductor, and piano player Andre Previn

Pioneering jazz flugelhorn player Clark TerryClark

Two time Grammy Award winning entertainer Bobby DarinBobby

Former Recording Academy President, Country Music Hall of Fame member, and session musician Harold Bradley

The first woman to own a major record label, founder of Scepter Records Florence Greenberg

Six time Emmy Award winner and producer/director (29 years) of the Grammy Awards Walter C. Miller

The special invitation-only ceremony will be held during GRAMMY Week on Jan. 30, 2010, and a formal acknowledgment will be made during the 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards telecast, which will be held at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Jan. 31 and broadcast live at 8 p.m. ET/PT on the CBS Television Network.
